Dork Tower knows me too well
Tuesday, April 28th, 2009Morrisons
Monday, April 27th, 2009We were at the morrisons, and at the next table there were three girls. The one in the red dress I liked very much. When we left, I gave my last beer to her, saying “happy birthday, whenever it is”. I’ll regret for a couple years that I never asked her name.

Monday, April 27th, 2009A virgin state of mind
Saturday, April 25th, 2009Was to write about things on the mind, but the minute I sat at my computer they just went out of my head. Again, so many things happened I don’t know where to start, so I just keep it to myself. I’m not even coherent these days. Still some things I ought to tell.
I’m not working at the museum anymore. Now I’m a web developer, and I love this job. One can only take questions like “is this freezed up” or “how to type an arabic 1 on the keyboard” for only so long. I liked the people there (well, there might be one exception), but the job… let’s just say I wasn’t cut for that.
I still don’t understand women. Some are horrified when you mention them you’d like to meet them to know them better. Some are horrified that you don’t ask them out on a date. Sometimes it’s the same woman. I suspected long ago I’ll end up being a lone grumpy old man living with cats.
Actually I shouldn’t be that gloomy. The Sun is shining, it’s Summer again (we skipped Spring in Hungary), I live in Budapest, I have a job I love to do. Still, something’s missing from my life, something I really need.
I have plans, many plans. But actually I always have plans, I’m just not motivated enough to go through with them. I just hope this time it will be different with at least some of them.
Well, here comes the Sun…
PS: go and watch the Who Killed Amanda Palmer? video series.

I walk down my street at night
The city lights are cold and violent
I am comforted by the
Approaching sounds of trucks and sirens
Even though the world’s so bad
These men rush out to help the dying
And though I am no use to them
I do my part by simply smiling (more…)
If I Were A Deep One…

King For A Day (Google Talk Labs Edition)
Monday, April 13th, 2009Well, despite it lost the comparison with the Good Old One client, I’ve been using the Labs version until now. I haven’t used the youtube linkage awesomeness, because I wasn’t linking or linked to any youtube videos on gtalk since then. However, there’s a couple of annoying things I’ve found during these two days. Let me emphasize the worst ones:
- The system tray icon. With the GOO, if you left-clicked on it, the contact list was focused and raised. If you right clicked, you got a menu. With the Labs version, both left and right click pops up the menu, which is annoying, since you have to click twice (or doubleclick) to see your incoming messages. Yeah, I could use the taskbar button, but the whole point of the systray icon is for not keeping the window on the taskbar…
- Speaking of the systray icon – if you get an incoming message, it starts to blink. If you focus on the window by the keyboard (by alt-tabbing), or if it’s already in focus, the icon will keep blinking until you actually click on the window – the taskbar button or the systray icon won’t do. How stupid is that?! And not just stupid but really annoying.
- Third, you can’t write multi-line messages, unless you copy/paste it from somewhere. In Good Old One, shift+enter inserted a linebreak.
So, I’m switching back to good old one and I’ll hope the youtube thingie will be ported into that soon.
Side switch
Sunday, April 12th, 2009I’ve moved the sidebar from right to left – somehow it seems much more logical this way to me. Might put it back though. I’ll see.
Update: the changes clashed with the commentbox. (I have Déja Vu…) Might go into that later, now I CBA. I put the sidebar back where it was.
